Imagine Swimming Pool at the Armory building in Brooklyn is recommended. Be aware of opening hours, only limited availability for walk-ins – generally between 8 and 10am. The rest of the days are typically reserved for coaching, teams, schools, and clubs.
The entrance at the Armory facility was rather complicated. The guard did not know that the pool had walk-in options, so had to do a bit of negotiation to be let in, in the first place. Once I got in the process was rather easy, the entrance fee (day pass) was $25 which is pretty cheap in NYC standards. The staff was extremely friendly – they walked through the signup process (took 2min) and generally were a bunch of nice guys.
It’s recommended go to visit this pool, and the Imagine Swimming team members made the experience really good. The only downsides are; Rather warm water, complicated to get into the pool and very limited hours for walk-ins.
I will definitely come back.
